Activities

There is an abundance of activities to enjoy whilst staying at Le Manoir de la Riviere (if, that is, you can tear yourself away from the peace, tranquillity and facilities of Le Manoir)

Enjoy Kayak trips down the Dordogne and bike hire can easily be arranged.

There are two 18 hole golf courses nearby – Saint Emilion and Vigiers – we are happy to arrange tee times and club hire and buggies for you

The pretty village of Pessac sur Dordogne is just a short walk away and the village has kayaks for boating on the river and bikes to hire.

There are three wedding chateaux nearby – Chateau Destinee – 2 minutes from Le Manoir de la Riviere; Chateau Soulac -5 minutes away and Chateau Rigaud – 10 minutes away
We are very happy to offer guests complimentary transport to the chateaux for the wedding.

There are two restaurants on the banks of the River. Sainte Foy La Grande is just ten minutes away and it is famous for its weekly Saturday market, voted one of the top 100 markets in the whole of France.

The train station at Vélines is just 5 minutes' drive away with hourly trains direct to Bordeaux city centre - so a sightseeing/shopping trip to Bordeaux is completely hassle free with no worries about finding a place to park - or even the right route.

Historical Monuments
There are two very important historical sites near Le Manoir de la Riviere. One is the Château de Montaigne. The XIVth century château was home to the philosopher and writer Michel de Montaigne. The chateau and park are open to the public and wine tastings are offered.
The other interesting site is the Roman villa and mosaics at Montcaret. This Roman villa, dating back to the 1st century, is listed as one of the 100 National Monuments in France.
